On this page we've tried to answer the questions that we are most commonly asked about nomohi portfolio shoots. You'll also find out a little about glamour modelling, and who nomohi are.
Scroll down the page or click on the links below to find the answers.
Do I have to be over 18? A woman?
To attend a nomohi portfolio shoot:
You MUST be 18 or over
You MUST bring a valid form of photo ID with you to the shoot.
We cannot release any pictures unless we see this.
You don't have to be female.. we can shoot men too (or anything in between), however we make a living photographing women, for men to look at. That's a market we understand.

What will happen on the day?
Portfolio Shoots last a good couple of hours.
We usually do two, maybe three sets, and we'll improvise using the items you've brought with you (see below). The photosets usually follow the same format - you start clothed, and undress gradually as the shoot goes on. You don't have to get completely naked - that's up to you.
We'lll tell you where to stand, where to look, etc. By about the middle of the second set you'll have got into the swing of things and you'll find that you're posing with less and less guidance.
Once we're done shooting we'll sit and have a look at the photos together. You'll be able to see for yourself what works, what doesn't, and why. We'll also pick half a dozen of the best pictures for your portfolio.
By the time you leave you'll have everything you need.

Do I bring my own clothes?
Although we do have quite a large wardrobe of women's clothes, it would be really helpful if you could bring a few items yourself.
Bring anything you think you look good in; something you might wear to a party or if you were going out in the evening is usually a good idea. Also, take your underwear drawer and just empty that into a bag. Don't worry if you haven't got lots of glamorous undies - that doesn't matter.
Bring a couple of changes of footwear - if you're a black and strappy heels kinda girl, bring those, if you're more a knee high-boots kinda girl, bring those, if you're never seen dead in anything other than doc martins.. bring those!
Don't wear anything too tight fitting on the way here. We don't want any marks on your skin.

Do I bring and do my own makeup?
No.
The shoot includes the services of our professional makeup artist to make sure you look your best.
Our makeup artists frequently work with photographers and film crews, so you may be pleasantly surprised to discover that they won't cake you in foundation, so if you decide to keep it on, you'll leave our studios looking fabulous, and not like some sort of scary crash test dummy.
Top
Do I have to be topless or nude?
No. This is your shoot. You decide how revealing your pictures will be.
Top
What do I get for my fee?
By the end of the shoot you'll have a set of several hundred photos (on CD) to take away with you. A few days later we'll send you a second CD with the six best pictures artworked to magazine quality, perfect for creating prints, uploading to your website, or sending to photographers, modelling or escort agencies, magazines etc.

Why is it so darn cheap?
You can easily pay up to and beyond £500 for a " portfolio". So you might well ask yourself just why we're able to offer this service at a fraction of the price. Here at nomohi we believe in giving you advice, and a set of photographs, that will enable you to get paid work as a glamour model. This means that...
- You leave here with exactly the type of photos you need, on a disc. A huge folder of glossy prints is very nice (and we can make one for you) but you just don't need it to get paid glamour modelling work!
- There won't be a makeup artist here (unless you pay extra or bring one with you) because once you start work, most of the time, you'll be expected to do your own.
- We're charging what we consider a fair price for our time, and our advice.
So keep those savings locked away, and let us put you on the road to glamour modelling without breaking the bank.

How and when do I pay?
Payment can be made credit/debit card (or paypal).
A small deposit of £20 secures your booking, and the remainder of the fee is due exactly two weeks before the appointment.
Further discounts are available if two of you book for the same shoot.
Please read the terms and conditions for more information on payment.
Top
What if I need to cancel?
Things happen. We understand that. That's why if you need to cancel we're happy to refund everything (apart from your deposit of £20) so long as you give us a week's notice.
Of course, rather than cancel your shoot we'd prefer to postpone it, or pick a date that's more convenient. So long as you tell us before your original shoot (even 1 day before) we'd be happy to do this for you and you won't lose any money.
Please read the terms and conditions for more information on cancellations.

Can I bring my boyfriend, Mum, friend to the shoot?
Absolutely. We are more than happy for you bring along a chaperon (maybe not all three at the same time though).
If you have a friend who's also considering modelling, then we encourage the two of you to share the shoot. You'll both save a few quid (see the discounts section on the home page) and it's a lot less nerve-wracking doing your first shoot if you're doing it with a close friend who you trust. Plus, we've found that girls learn how to model more quickly when they can watch someone else.

What’s the difference between this and a makeover session?
Congratulations! You are a "runner up" in the makeover portrait photography competition you recently entered.
You, and the countless other "runners up", must turn up at XYZ studios on {insert date here}, sit for hours in our stuffy waiting room, before being caked in makeup so thick it's probably bullet proof. The photo session itself will last ten minutes. At some point you're likely to wear a feather boa. Then after you've scraped the gunk off your face, you'll sit with a salesman who will take you through the photographs (just the once), and pressurise you into buying as many over-priced prints as possible. You can pick one measly tiny print as your "prize".
If you've ever been on a makeover this will probably sound very familiar indeed. And whilst not all makeovers are necessarily the same, the only thing they have in common with real glamour photography is that at some point a camera is involved, but that's all!
The makeover shoot attempts to turn ugly ducklings into swans, no matter what the girl looks like to start with. They do this with a combination of heavy makeup, soft focus, and props that cover as much of you as possible. The aim is to transform the customer into someone else so that when they're sitting in the sales room they say "wow - do I really look like that." The answer, sadly, is no. They don't. But ugly ducklings don't want to see what they really look like.
A glamour photographer however, does. And not just your physique, but also your personality.
A nomohi portfolio will leave you with a set of sizzling glamour images that'll show any glamour photographer exactly how much potential you have. But better still, once you've done your shoot with us you'll have a much, much better idea about what's involved, as well as the skills needed to hit the ground running and start earning modelling fees.
Makeover shoots? Leave 'em for the ugly ducklings. You need a nomohi portfolio. Click here to book your portfolio shoot.

What's the difference between this and a boudoir shoot?
A few years back there was an episode of "sex and the city" where one of the lead characters (Samantha) decided to commission a photographer to take a series of erotic photographs of her so that in years to come she'd be able to look back and say.. I looked that good !
This is known, in the trade, as a "boudoir modelling portfolio". A set of photographs that are slightly raunchier than you might get from your average highstreet photographer.
In recent years boudoir modelling portfolios have become a popular special gift from wives to their husbands, and girlfriends to their significant others, or even from customers to themselves because they want a record of how they look before everything heads south. And following that "sex and the city" episode we started to receive the occasional enquiry from ladies wishing to do the same.
So.. can we do this? Yes we can.
Do we do this? Yes we do.
Is it the same as a portfolio? No. Not at all.
The main difference between a portfolio and a boudoir shoot is focus. Our focus: In a portfolio shoot we're attempting to turn you into a model so you can get out there and make a fortune by fluttering your eye lids at the camera; in a boudoir shoot we're attempting to make your husband /boyfriend /significant polyamourous other happy by producing a beautifully presented set of steamy prints that will raise their blood pressure a few points. If that means we have to wrap you in clingfilm, or dress you as a nun, or dress you as a nun wrapped in clingfilm, so be it.
However the second difference, and probably the most significant, is time and cost. What with the time involved finding out what sort of photos your husband / boyfriend / significant polyamourous other would like to see, the makeup artist working her magic to turn you into a sizzling harlot / goddess-like angel / cling film wrapped nun, not to mention all the post production work we do on the photos after the shoot, the whole boudoir experience costs around £500.
If we've talked you out of the portfolio shoot and the boudoir experience sounds more like your sort of thing, click here and contact us for more details.

What's the difference between this and a testshoot?
We're glamour photographers by trade. Most of the time we're hiring models and taking pictures to sell to magazines or websites. Portfolios and boudoir shoots is a side-line.
We ask all the models we work with to come along for a testshoot before we offer them any paid work. That includes professional models.
A test shoot is a bit like having an audition. It's our way to determine whether the girl can model and take direction and work to our brief.

Can I buy a Portfolio Shoot for a freind?
Absolutely.
Just choose the certificate that's right for your budget, pay with your credit/debit card or paypal account, and print the certificate ready to give.
Easy.

What is Glamour Photography?
This may not be the text book definition, but it's the nomohi-definition:
Glamour is photographic imagery of an erotic or suggestive nature, usually of women.
A bit of history for you..
In the " old days" (I'm talking 1970's - really old) the cliché Glamour photograph was a girl dressed in stockings and suspenders, sitting at a dressing table, shot in soft focus. It was the reserve of top shelf magazines, Sun Page 3 and girlie calendars sponsored by tyre manufacturers.
In the early 1980s the world went bonkers and girlie calendars were frowned on. Sun Page 3 came under heavy fire, and a lady called Mary Whitehouse called for any man showing an interest in naked ladies to be burned at the stake.
Then along came FHM, and other "lads mags". Suddenly it was ok to look at naked or near-naked ladies. Even on the bus. Every TV starlet wanted to appear on the front cover in her undies. Life was good again.
Now, the internet along with the "lad's mags" seem to have created a stronger demand for pictures of gorgeous girls. Which is obviously good news for us, and great news for you!

What's the difference between fashion and glamour?
The difference is huge.
Fashion concentrates on the clothes, more than the girl. The aim is to sell the clothes the girl is wearing; the girl herself is nothing more than a human coat hanger (and usually has a figure as such)! The model usually looks cool, and serene. She's saying, "wear these clothes, and you can look this cool and this serene."
As a viewer, you desire the clothes and want to be the model.
Glamour on the other hand concentrates on the girl, rather than the clothes. In fact most times, there are no clothes.
A good glamour model is smiley (like the picture above), sexy, or flirty - or all three. In fact, whereas the fashion model can sometimes seem quite "blank" and cold, the glamour model is anything but blank and cold.
As a viewer you're supposed to forget about the clothes, desire the model, and want her!
It's very important to understand the difference between Glamour and Fashion modelling and decide which type of you're interested in. The techniques are really quite different. Even how you go about getting work is very different.
The fashion industry can be very bitchy. It's over run with agencies, skinny girls, expensive modelling portfolios, minimum heights, maximum age limits, and sharks.
The Glamour industry is a different animal. It's really just a part of the adult entertainment industry. It can be a fun, friendly industry to work in, though it also has its sharks. It can also be very seedy. But there's tons of work, and it's easy to get.

What makes a good Glamour Model
When I started glamour photography I figured it was the prettiest girls that did best - but that turned out to be non-sense.
Then it seemed that girls who had an element of the actress about them, were the winners. Or students. For some reason students seemed to make much better models than any other girl. But then there was the nudity. The more naked the model, the more pictures she sold.
Whilst all those things are true, to a degree, in actual fact my most successful models have something much more simple in common. They can all smile.
Looking back at all the photosets I've shot over the years, without a doubt the ones that sold the most were the ones where the model is smiling at the camera. It might be a cheeky smile, it might be a shy smile, it might be a sexy, smoldering smile, but it's always there.
A smile is like the volume control of a glamour photograph; take a good picture and then introduce a smile, and suddenly you have a great picture. Take a sexy pose and throw in a smile and suddenly it's blisteringly hot. Take an ok looking girl with average size boobs, more than the occasional zit or pimple.. but an amazing smile.. and suddenly you have an absolute babe in front of you.
Nowadays that's what I want from my models more than anything else. A big natural smile. All of my adverts mention the smile, and I spend most of the shoot kidding-around trying to find ways of making my model smile!
So, book yourself in for a nomohi modelling portfolio shoot and let's see if we can make you.. smile :-)

How much can I earn as a Glamour Model?
Glamour models are generally paid by the hour, and get paid more per hour depending on how explicit the poses will be.
For instance, a topless shoot, where you probably finish up in just your knickers and your boobs uncovered, might pay perhaps £20 or 25 per hour. However, there's very little paid topless work out there.
Next up from topless is "artistic nude", where you are completely naked, but your legs are closed, or you're turned slightly away from the camera. Now you're earning £30 per hour. Believe it or not, there isn't a lot of nude work either.
After nude things get a little more explicit, and this is where the money is. You can easily earn £40 or £50 an hour. These are the rates we pay, and we usually book models for five hours at a time so we pay out, in cash, £200 or £250 per day.

How difficult is it to become a model?
It isn't.
There is a LOT of work out there, and for any girl who has her head screwed on, is fiercely professional, and is prepared to do at least top-shelf men's magazine, it's there for the picking.
During your nomohi portfolio shoot we'll tell you exactly how to market yourself, how to find the work, and how to spot and avoid the scams and pitfalls.

Who's behind nomohi?
That would be me. Peter the photographer. That's me to the right.
I started nomohi almost ten years ago, and I'm still doing it, along with my assistant Karen.
Like a lot of photographers, it started as a hobby and an interest in photographing attractive girls.
I originally had a website to display my "work" and attract would-be models, but after a while the website was receiving so much traffic, both from other photographers wanting to "book" the girls, and girls themselves wanting to know more about become a model, that I began to wonder whether or not this could become a "profession". And now of course, it is.
Other than that I'm forty-two (eek!), I'm an actor, an author, and I live near the sea, with my cat.. and if you want to know more than that click the picture (takes you to a completely different website).

What does nomohi mean?
nomohi is made up of the first two letters of each word from the phrase "no more hiding". We pronounce it - NO,M'HI
Why "no more hiding"? Before nomohi I had a pretty normal 9-5 job, doing something that didn't really interest me any more. I worked in a bank. Like most people I just figured that that's what work is about - not really enjoying yourself. But when I finally made the decision to turn my hobby into my life I felt a huge sense of relief. Like I was finally doing something genuine, something that I enjoyed. It was as if the real me had been hiding, all those years, behind his desk, at the bank.
Pretty heavy stuff for a man that produces some very lighthearted images.
But maybe you feel the same way. Maybe you look in the mirror and wonder if you have what it takes to be something more.
Maybe, you turn up at work every Monday morning, and inside you wish there was a little more to your day than this desk, and the same old dull view out of the window. In your dreams after all, you're a model. You're someone special.
Do yourself a favour, stop dreaming. Stop hiding behind that mirror. Do something about it. No more hiding.

Are you an agent (a modelling agency)?
No. I'm a photographer. I'm the one who holds the camera and takes the pictures.
An agent is someone who apparently finds work for the models who they have "on their books". For doing this they take a cut of the modelling fee.
A better question to ask is "do you need an agent"? To which I'd have to answer "I don't believe so." There is lots and lots of glamour modelling work out there and it's all for the taking if you're pretty, professional, and punctual.

What sort of work do you specialise in?
We describe our work as "photos that most guys would like to take of their girlfriends".
So, whilst we take striking images, our images still feature "real" girls, in "real" settings. We're not keen on big empty studios or paper back drops or wind machines or anything that looks doesn't look natural. And that goes for the girls we work with too. We want our models to look alive, and fun, and flirty, and sizzling hot.. we're not into mean and moody, airbrushed and unobtainable. We leave "art" for the artists.
In other words, our images are EXACTLY what fill the pages of the top shelf magazines you'll find in most newsagents, and this is a very good thing because that's where the paid work is. And whilst we'd love to shoot for posh calendars, or page three, we're smart enough to realise there just isn't enough of a demand for that kind of photography.
So, when you come for a nomohi portfolio you can rest in the knowledge that we're preparing you for the kind of work that you're likely to be offered once you leave us and enter the world of the professional model.

Can you make my dreams come true?
Glamour modelling, like other types of modelling, is competitive. There are literally thousands of girls out there, just like you, competing for the small amount of paid glamour work there is.
Fortunately, most of your competitors don’t really know what they’re doing, which means it’s relatively easy to get paid work with just a few tools and tricks - having a “nomohi portfolio” and learning a few tricks of the trade from our published glamour photographer will make sure that you are ahead of the rest.
