The easiest way to find out whether glamour modelling is for you is to "try it out", and a FREE nomohi test shoot is just that - your chance to get in front of our cameras and see what it feels like. It's a bit like an audition and a modelling "lesson" all in one.. but without the stress, and it won't cost you a bean.
On this page you'll find all the information you need about our test shoots, who we accept, who we don't, how you can cheat to get to the top of our shortlist, stuff like that, or you can skip all this reading lark and just send us your details.

What is a test shoot? And is it free?
A test shoot is a mini-glamour shoot. It's a chance for us to see what sort of modelling potential you have, as well as whether you're able to follow directions, turn up on time and all that other professional modelling stuff. It's also an opportunity for you to see that we're genuine and not scam artists, axe murderers or anything nasty.
It's like an audition or interview.. but without the scary bits.
The whole experience is pretty light hearted and fun, and it only lasts an hour or so.
It won't cost you anything, other than your travelling expenses of course (to Southend-on-Sea in Essex - about 30 mile outside London).

What will happen on the day?
Once you arrive, we have a chat about glamour modelling in general. I'll tell you a little about me, the industry, and answer as many of your initial questions as I can. When you're ready we'll starting shooting.
We usually do two, maybe three sets, and we'll improvise using the items you've brought with you (see below). The photosets usually follow the same format - you start clothed, and undress gradually as the shoot goes on. You don't have to get completely naked - that's up to you.
I'm used to giving models quite a lot of direction to start with - so I'll tell you where to stand, where to look, whether to smile etc etc. Many first time models find this helpful - but by about the middle of the second set you'll have got into the swing of things and you'll find that you're posing with less and less guidance from me.
During the shoot you might think of more questions and that's absolutely fine - feel free to treat the shoot as an opportunity to find out as much as you can about earning money as a glamour model.
Once we're done shooting we'll sit and have a look at the photos together. You'll be able to see for yourself what works, what doesn't, and why.
Finally we'll have a chat about what work we have available.

Do I bring my own clothes?
Although I do have quite a large wardrobe of women's clothes (not for myself I hasten to add), it would be really helpful if you could bring a few items yourself.
Bring anything you think you look good in; something you might wear to a party or if you were going out in the evening is usually a good idea. Also, take your underwear drawer and just empty that into a bag. Don't worry if you haven't got lots of glamorous undies - that doesn't matter.
Avoid ball gowns, or anything difficult to get off. The point here is to pick something we can strip you out of easily. For that reason I usually steer clear of shorts, jeans and trousers of any description - but if that's all you have bring those.
Bring a couple of changes of footwear - if you're a black and strappy heels kinda girl, bring those, if you're more a knee high-boots kinda girl, bring those, if you're never seen dead in anything other than doc martins.. bring those! Part of the object of the shoot is to find out what kind of look(s) you can do.
Don't wear anything too tight fitting on the way here. We don't want any marks on your skin.

Do I bring and do my own makeup?
Usually.
However, you won't require any additional makeup to what you're used to wearing.
Try to avoid heavy foundation if the rest of your body is quite pale - we don't want you to look like an orange lollipop.
Also try to avoid getting a fake tan - it's not necessary. If you have a real tan that's fine. If you have tan lines that's fine too (really - us guys go for that kinda thing).

Do I have to be topless or nude?
No. This is a just a testshoot.
That said, we don't have any work for girls who aren't prepared to do at least Men's Magazine, so it's not a bad idea to start getting used to the idea of taking your clothes off in front of the camera.

What will happen to the (testshoot) photographs?
Nothing.
Legally, no photographer (or model for that matter) can do anything with the pictures that have been taken unless the model has signed a "model release form" What's a model release form? Click here.
We won't ask you to sign a model release form at the testshoot so you're covered, legally.
On a practical level it's also very difficult to sell the pictures unless we have a copy of your ID. All magazines require proof of age and ID from the photographer, so where as we have to check your ID (so that we're comfortable that you're over 18), we don't actually take a copy, making it more or less impossible for the pictures to ever end up in a magazine.
Again, you're covered.
Finally, testshoot photographs are really only useful for you to see where you can improve your modelling, and for us to see what potential you have. The sort of pictures we'll take on the day rarely have any commercial value - in short we probably couldn't give them away even if we wanted to!

Do I get a copy of the pictures?
A lot of the girls who come along for a test shoot are keen to have a copy of the test-shoot pictures, and we're more than happy to provide these on the day, on disc. In return we ask for you to give us permission to use a handful of the pictures here at nomohi, as examples.
Top
Can I bring my boyfriend, Mum, friend to the shoot?
Absolutely. We are more than happy for you bring along a chaperon (maybe not all three at the same time though).
Top
Can two of us model at the shoot? Can I bring a friend?
If you have a friend who's also considering modelling, then we encourage the two of you to share the shoot. You'll it's a lot less nerve-wracking doing your first shoot if you're doing it with a close friend who you trust. Plus, we've found that girls learn how to model more quickly when they can watch someone else.

What’s the difference between this and a makeover session?
Congratulations! You a "runner up" in the makeover portrait photography competition you recently entered - well, what a surprise!
You, and the countless other "runners up" must turn up at our studios on {insert date here}, sit for hours in our stuffy waiting room, before being caked in makeup so thick it's probably bullet proof. The photo session itself will last all of ten minutes. At some point you're likely to wear a feather boa. Then afterwards (once we've scraped the gunk off your face), you'll sit with our sales people who will take you through the photographs (just the once), and pressurise you into buying as many over-priced prints as possible. You can pick one measly tiny print as your "prize".
If you've ever been on a makeover this will probably sound very familiar indeed. And whilst not all makeovers are necessarily the same, the only thing they have in common with glamour photography is that at some point a camera is involved, but that's all!
At a makeover shoot you're a customer, and you're paying (even if you think it's free to start with) for a set of photos of you in heavy makeup, soft focus, and wearing props that cover as much of you as possible, to take home and put in a drawer somewhere.
A testshoot on the other hand is a photographic audition. An interview. It's our way to determine whether you can model and take direction and work to our brief.
They're chalk and cheese.
Do we do makeover shoots? No. Absolutely not.
We do however do glamour portfolio shoots and boudoir shoots. To find out more about those keep reading.

What the difference between this and a boudoir shoot?
A few years back there was an episode of "sex and the city" where one of the lead characters (Samantha) decided to commission a photographer to take a series of erotic photographs of her so that in years to come she'd be able to look back and say.. I looked that good !
This is known, in the trade, as a "boudoir portfolio". A set of photographs that are slightly raunchier than you might get from your average highstreet photographer.
In recent years boudoir portfolios have become a popular special gift from wives to their husbands, and girlfriends to their significant others, or even from customers to themselves because they want a record of how they look before everything heads south. And following that "sex and the city" episode we started to receive the occasional enquiry from ladies wishing to do the same.
So.. can we do this? Yes we can.
Do we do this? Yes we do.
Is it the same as a testshoot? No. Not at all.
At a testshoot we're checking to see if you're a model and can make a fortune, for both us and you, by fluttering your eye lids at the camera.
in a boudoir shoot we're attempting to make your husband /boyfriend /polyamourous partner(s) happy by producing a beautifully presented set of steamy prints that will raise their blood pressure a few points. If that means we have to wrap you in clingfilm, or dress you as a nun, or dress you as a nun wrapped in clingfilm, so be it.
At a testshoot, we're seeing whether we can work together, as partners, and make money but taking sexy photos. If the testshoot goes well, I will, at some point, be paying you.
At a boudoir shoot however, I'm working for you, producing sexy photos for you to take away. You're paying me. What happens to the photos, is totally up to you.
If we've talked you out of a testshoot and the boudoir experience sounds more like your sort of thing, click here and contact us for more details.

What's the difference between this and a glamour portfolio shoot?
If you're thinking of entering the world of glamour modelling at some point you're going to need a portfolio. Put simply, a set of photographs that prove that you have what it takes to be a glamour model.
There are, of course, many many photographers and modelling agencies out there offering "portfolio" services.
Do we do this? Yes. Yes we do.
Is it the same as a testshoot? No. Not at all.
At a testshoot we've already decided that you might be worth hiring as a model. We'll make this decision based on the photos you're about to send us, and the details you'll put on your contact form. All we need to do is take a few photos, and then if we like you, offer you some paid work.
You'll leave here after your testshoot with a better idea of whether glamour modelling is your kind of thing, but you won't have a portfolio.
If however you really do need a set of great photos, and some good advice on how to get work, then perhaps a testshoot isn't for you. Maybe you ought to consider a nomohi Glamour Portfolio Shoot.

What if I don't think modelling's for me ?
After the testshoot if you decide modelling is not for you then you can just walk away and, apart from a couple of hours, neither of us have lost anything.
And what will happen to the pictures ? Absolutely nothing. We keep a copy for a while in case we hear from you again, and then we delete the pictures to make room for new material.
What if the shoot goes well?
If the shoot goes well (and you fit what we're currently looking for), we could be setting up a paid session by the end of the test shoot!
If you're not what we're looking for then I'll keep your details on file in case something suitable does come up.
Meantime I'm happy to offer as much advice as possible, and give you a few pointers that'll help you get your modelling career started.
What is the "short list" ?
Surprising though it may seem, we don't ask every girl along for a test shoot.. there simply aren't enough days in the week to do that. Instead we have a short list which we add potential models to and then sort depending on what we're looking for right now etc.
Sadly, these days the short list isn't that "short". Sometimes, even if we've added your name to our list there can be quite a wait before we contact you.
If you haven't got time to wait you might want to consider "queue jumping" - see below.
Top
Queue Jumping
If you haven't got time to wait, (or don't have a photo you can send us), we offer a "queue jumping" service whereby, for a small fee, we will book you into our diary straight away and give you a testshoot at a time to suit you - no waiting to come to the top of the shortlist, no sending us a photo first, no taking days off work. You pick the day and if it's available we book you in.
To jump the queue we charge a small fee - just £39.99 - to cover our time.
If you're already on our short list and want to queue jump drop us an email via the general enquiry form.
If you haven't contacted us yet but would be interested in queue jumping, fill out the model contact form, and follow the instructions on the page that follows.

Are there other ways to cheat my way to the top of the list?
Well now, funny you should ask that because yes there are ! I give extra "nomohi points" based on the following:-
- Full length nude or semi nude photos - if you're going to be a glamour model, you might as well get used to being naked - I can't tell what sort of figure you have from a passport photo, or a picture of you wrapped in a winter coat !
- Lots of photos - our contact form allows you to send eight photos. If you have eight photos on your computer, SEND eight photos !
- Girls who are keen; there's nothing wrong with being chatty, asking lots of photos, or writing a lot on the form. If I can tell that you really REALLY want to be a model, then you'll go to the front of the queue as far as I'm concerned.
- Bring a friend: From a sheer time-management perspective if I can shoe horn two girls into one test shoot that makes a lot of sense. So, when girls tell me they've got a female friend who's also interesting in modelling, I put both girls to the top of the list.
Another way to get to the top of the list is to become a "queue jumper".
Queue jumping is useful if you really can't wait to come to the top of the shortlist, or for one reason or another you don't match the criteria for a free shoot (eg. you're too far away, you have no photo you can send me, or you're only available at weekends).
We charge a small fee for queue jumpers (£39.99), but..
- So long as you're prepared to make the journey you can live where ever you like !
- You can book the testshoot at a time that's convenient to you.
- You can come along at weekends.
- We don't need to see a photograph first !
- If you bring a friend the fee is divided between the two of you!
To queue jump simply fill out the contact form and then hit the queue jump button on the thank you page

Is there anything I should avoid doing to make sure I don't get thrown off the shortlist?
Well now, funny you should ask that because yes there are! You can incur big "nomohi point losses" based on the following:-
- Work e-mail addresses worry us; I know, I know.. there's no pleasing us. But we've heard of girls who have been fired because they're e-mailing us using the company's e-mail system. You just don't know who else is reading those e-mails so for your own protection, don't do it !
- Reliability is very important to us, and time is precious. We'll only try and contact you once - by email - if you don't return our messages we delete your details and move onto the next girl! It's a cruel world. Make sure you check your email regularly, and if you use any spam filters make sure we're not being sent to your junk mail.
- And lastly.. If we book you for a test shoot and fail to turn up (without letting us know before hand) you'll NEVER be considered for a shoot, paid or not, ever again. We also share details of flakey models with other photographers.

What if I don't have a photo?
You don't have a photo?
There isn't a photo of you in existence in the entire world??
Nobody has ever taken a picture of you? What.. ever?
No family photos? Holiday photos? Photos your mates took of you when you were larking about?
Come on! I don't believe that for one minute.
The good news is your photo doesn't have to be a professionally taken!
I don't need to see proper"modelling" pictures - I understand completely that you haven't done any modelling yet, that's why you're about to contact me. But I do need to see something - anything!

What if I need to cancel my testshoot?
Things happen. We understand that.
If you need to postpone or cancel for whatever reason (nerves, doctor's appointment, hangover, interview, important football match, boyfriend no longer approves, family no longer approves, Father Patrick no longer approves..).. it's ok!
All I ask is that you send me text message. I don't need to know the reason, (so there's no need to kill off a member of your family - I've had four models this year who've had "a death in the family") - just say "Peter - I'm afraid I can't make the testshoot". Easy.
If you want to postpone your shoot we're happy to put you back on the shortlist.
