What's Glamour Photography?
This may not be the text book definition, but it's the nomohi-definition:
Glamour is photographic imagery of an erotic or suggestive nature, usually of women.
A bit of history for you..
In the " old days" (I'm talking 1970's - really old) the cliché Glamour photograph was a girl dressed in stockings and suspenders, sitting at a dressing table, shot in soft focus. It was the reserve of top shelf magazines, Sun Page 3 and girlie calendars sponsored by tyre manufacturers.
In the early 1980s the world went bonkers and girlie calendars were frowned on. Sun Page 3 came under heavy fire, and a lady called Mary Whitehouse called for any man showing an interest in naked ladies to be burned at the stake.
Then along came FHM, and other "lads mags". Suddenly it was ok to look at naked or near-naked ladies. Even on the bus. Every TV starlet wanted to appear on the front cover in her undies. Life was good again.
Now, the internet along with the "lad's mags" seem to have created a stronger demand for pictures of gorgeous girls. Which is obviously good news for us, and great news for you!

What's the difference between fashion and glamour?
The difference is huge.
Fashion concentrates on the clothes, more than the girl. The aim is to sell the clothes the girl is wearing; the girl herself is nothing more than a human coat hanger (and usually has a figure as such)! The model usually looks cool, and serene. She's saying, "wear these clothes, and you can look this cool and this serene."
As a viewer, you desire the clothes and want to be the model.
Glamour on the other hand concentrates on the girl, rather than the clothes. In fact most times, there are no clothes.
A good glamour model is smiley (like the picture above), sexy, or flirty - or all three. In fact, whereas the fashion model can sometimes seem quite "blank" and cold, the glamour model is anything but blank and cold.
As a viewer you're supposed to forget about the clothes, desire the model, and want her!
It's very important to understand the difference between Glamour and Fashion modelling and decide which type of you're interested in. The techniques are really quite different. Even how you go about getting work is very different.
The fashion industry can be very bitchy. It's over run with agencies, skinny girls, expensive portfolios, minimum heights, maximum age limits, and sharks.
The Glamour industry is a different animal. It's really just a part of the adult entertainment industry. It can be a fun, friendly industry to work in, though it also has its sharks. It can also be very seedy. But there's tons of work, and it's easy to get.

What makes a good Glamour Model (and why smiling is the most important thing you can do)
When I started glamour photography I figured it was the prettiest girls that did best - but that turned out to be non-sense.
Then it seemed that girls who had an element of the actress about them, were the winners. Or students. For some reason students seemed to make much better models than any other girl. But then there was the nudity. The more naked the model, the more pictures she sold.
Whilst all those things are true, to a degree, in actual fact my most successful models have something much more simple in common. They can all smile.
Looking back at all the photosets I've shot over the years, without a doubt the ones that sold the most were the ones where the model is smiling at the camera. It might be a cheeky smile, it might be a shy smile, it might be a sexy, smoldering smile, but it's always there.
A smile is like the volume control of a glamour photograph; take a good picture and then introduce a smile, and suddenly you have a great picture. Take a sexy pose and throw in a smile and suddenly it's blisteringly hot. Take an ok looking girl with average size boobs, more than the occasional zit or pimple.. but an amazing smile.. and suddenly you have an absolute babe in front of you.
Nowadays that's what I want from my models more than anything else. A big natural smile. All of my adverts mention the smile, and I spend most of the shoot kidding-around trying to find ways of making my model smile!
If you're a girl with a smile, big or small, shy or sexy, contact me today.

How much can I earn as a Glamour Model?
Glamour models are generally paid by the hour, and get paid more per hour depending on how "strong" or explicit the most explicit pose will be.
For instance, a topless shoot, where you probably finish up in just your knickers and your boobs uncovered, might pay £25 per hour. HOWEVER, and this is very important, there isn't an awful lot of topless work around (we certainly don't have any).
Next up from topless is "artistic nude", where you are completely naked, we can see a little pubic hair (if you have any) but your legs are closed, or you're turned slightly away from the camera. Now you're earning £30 per hour. There isn't a lot of nude work either.
After nude things get a little more explicit, and this is where the money is. You can easily earn £40, £50 or £60 an hour. These are the rates we pay, and we usually book models for five hours at a time so we pay out, in cash, £200, £250 or £300 per day.
Please please please, take a couple of minutes to visit our "prices" page to learn more about glamour photography styles and our modelling rates.

How difficult is it to become a model?
It isn't.
No seriously it isn't.
My four top-tips would be
- Get a photo. Any photo . You won't get any modelling work unless you can send the photographer a photo. I'm not talking about a portfolio, personally I don't want to see a portfolio - I'm talking about a normal, every day photo. One taken by a boyfriend, or a mate, or even yourself using the self timer! Just take a couple of decent size snaps of yourself, preferably naked. Click here, or follow the link below, for more advice on taking a photo.
- Ask us for a test-shoot ! What's a testshoot? Before we book any model we like to get them along for a chat and a quick half hour shoot in front of the camera. It's a quick, fun way to find out whether glamour modelling is for you. Click here for more on test shoots or following the link below.
- Consider an "online portfolio" - If you're serious about pursuing a career in glamour modelling you need to approach it professionally, and sooner or later, aside from doing the actual modelling work, you're going to need to think about how you're going to promote yourself, get those modelling jobs, and how potential clients (photographers) are going to contact you. Most models end up getting an "online portfolio" of some description - basically your own website and dedicated modelling email address. It's not as hard as it sounds, and it doesn't have to cost the earth. We recommend no more hiding.com. Click here for more information or follow the link below.
- Be Brave! It's a fact that the more you're prepared to take-off (in the way of clothes) the more work is available, and the more the work pays. Most girls can feel a little nervous about doing "those" types of pictures, but there really is nothing to be afraid of. It's only nudity! And I'm guessing you haven't got a problem with nudity, because if you had you wouldn't be on this website. Click here to find out how much you can earn, or follow the links below.

Am I the right size, shape, or age?
To be a glamour model there are some stringent requirements. Let's see how you measure up.
-
You must be female
- You must be over 18 years old
And that's it! There is no upper age limit, no minimum height requirement, and no minimum bust size.
Girls sometimes worry that they're too short, too fat, or too old - it's simply not true! You can have little boobs, and you can be in your thirties, forty's or fifties!!
Here at nomohi we have a preference for girls with big smiles, curvy or slim figures, and happy to do men's magazine style modelling after a testshoot. Only occasionally have I ever turned away a lady because of her body shape, and even then it wasn't the only reason.
My top three reasons for not using a model are..

Who's behind nomohi?
That would be me. Peter the photographer. That's me to the right.
I started nomohi almost ten years ago, and I'm still doing it with my assistant Karen.
Like a lot of photographers, it started as a hobby and an interest in photographing attractive girls.
I originally had a website to display my "work" and attract would-be models, but after a while the website was receiving so much traffic, both from other photographers wanting to "book" the girls, and girls themselves wanting to know more about become a model, that I began to wonder whether or not this could become a "profession". And now of course, it is.
Other than that I'm forty (eek!), and live near the sea, with my cat.. and if you want to know more than that click the picture.

What does nomohi mean?
nomohi is made up of the first two letters of each word from the phrase "no more hiding". We pronounce it - NO,M'HI
Why "no more hiding"? Before nomohi I had a pretty normal 9-5 job, doing something that didn't really interest me any more. I worked in a bank. Like most people I just figured that that's what work is about - not really enjoying yourself. But when I finally made the decision to turn my hobby into my life I felt a huge sense of relief. Like I was finally doing something genuine, something that I enjoyed. It was as if the real me had been hiding, all those years, behind his desk, at the bank.
Pretty heavy stuff for a man that produces some very lighthearted images.
But maybe you feel the same way. Maybe you look in the mirror and wonder if you have what it takes to be something more.
Maybe, you turn up at work every Monday morning, and inside you wish there was a little more to your day than this desk, and the same old dull view out of the window. In your dreams after all, you're a model. You're someone special.
Do yourself a favour, stop dreaming. Stop hiding behind that mirror. Do something about it. No more hiding.

Are you an agent (a modelling agency)?
No. I'm a photographer. I'm the one who holds the camera and takes the pictures.
An agent is someone who apparently finds work for the models who they have "on their books". For doing this they take a cut of the modelling fee.
A better question to ask is "do you need an agent"? To which I'd have to answer "I don't believe so." There is lots and lots of glamour modelling work out there and it's all for the taking if you're pretty, professional, and punctual. All you need is a method of attracting photographers to you.
One sure way to attract photographers to you is via our sister site www.nomorehiding.com where we list genuine models that are available for work. It's a site that's visited by professional photographers and filmmakers alike who have paid work. Every girl listed on the site has her own website (an online portfolio) with pictures of the work she does, as well as her rates and details of how photographers can contact her.
Nomorehiding.com guarantees that you will get at least one offer of work within six months of joining or your money back. Recently we put one girl on the site and within 5 hours she had received her first offer of work!

What sort of work do you specialise in?
We describe our work as "photos that most guys would like to take of their girlfriends".
Most of our images feature real girls, in real settings. Whilst we strive to take striking images, we're not keen on studios or paper back drops or wind machines or anything that looks doesn't look natural.
As a result our images are quite different from those that you might get if you paid a photographer to build you a portfolio. But that's because we're not interested in building portfolios, we're only interested in taking pictures we can sell to magazines or websites.
Top
Why is a lot of your work sold to the web?
The simple fact of the matter is that it's all down to maths.
There are a zillion adult websites out there, probably about a thousand for every serious photographer. Some websites only last a week or two before disappearing, others last longer.
There are quite a few magazines too, but not as many.. And there are certainly more photographers than magazines.
To run a magazine you need offices, and phones, and office furniture, lots of people and lots more money. To run a website you need a computer.
Both the websites and the magazines need "content" (pictures to print): The magazines generally have lots of photographers trying to sell work to them, as well as their own photographers, whereas the websites usually have to seek out their own content.. And often they find that content from websites like ours.
That's why. :-)

Why aren't there any black/oriental/older girls on your site?
Because black & oriental girls, and ladies older than about 25, never seem to contact me.
This is a great shame. There's plenty of work out there and whilst it's true that a pretty 21 year old blonde with big boobs will always be popular, there's plenty of demand for black girls, japanese girls, chinese girls, indian girls, and ladies in their 30s, 40s, and 50s.
So please, if that's you.. contact me today.

Will you make my dreams come true?
We're amazed at how often we get asked this question!
We are happy to offer advice, and we are happy to point you in the right direction as much as we can, but we aren't "agents" or "career officers"!
There are plenty of people out there who will be more than happy to "help you", and will promise you the world .. but trust me, they're not doing it for their health. There's a lot of money to be made out of girls like you who have a "dream".
My advice to you is to take your head out of the clouds and stop dreaming. Click here to read my top tips on how to become a model and get on with becoming a glamour model. It's far easier than you think.

What's a test shoot?
We don't usually use a model until they've done a test-shoot for us. That includes professional models.
A test shoot is a bit like having an audition but without the scary bits. It's our way to determine whether the girl (that's you) can model and take direction and work to our brief. Sometimes models ask us why a test shoot is necessary - which seems an odd question - after all, you wouldn't get an everyday job without an interview.
What happens at the testshoot?
It's an opportunity for us to meet, for us to check you haven't got two heads, for you to check that we're not axe murderers (!!), look at some examples of our work and to ask us any questions you may have about modelling.
We do half an hour of shooting which give us an opportunity to see what potential you've got, and you the chance to see how you feel in front of the lights and camera.
At the end of it, if there's time, we'll take a look at the pictures we've taken and talk about what happens next.
It's actually quite good fun and a really good way to find out if glamour photography is the kind of thing you'd like to do more of.
I don't expect you to do anything more than nude, and obviously you can bring a friend or chaperon.

The Short List?
Surprising though it may seem, we don't ask every girl along for a test shoot.. there simply aren't enough days in the week to do that. Instead we have a short list which we add all enquiries to and then sort depending on where you are, how keen you seem, how easy you are to get hold of etc.
For girls who haven't got time to wait, (or can only make weekends, or have absolutely no photo that they can send prior to a testshoot), we offer a "queue jumping" service whereby we will book you straight into the diary.. no waiting to come to the top of the shortlist, no sending us a photo first, and no taking days off work if you can only make weekends. You pick the day and if it's available we book you in.
We do charge a small fee for queue jumping but if you bring a friend we split that fee between the two of you!
Click here to find out more about test shoots, the shortlist, and how to jump the queue.

Can I bring my boyfriend, Mum, friend to the test shoot?
Absolutely. We are more than happy for you bring along a chaperon (maybe not all three at the same time though).
If you have a friend who's also been considering modelling, then we encourage you to bring her along too. It's a lot less nerve-wracking doing your first shoot if you're doing it with a close friend who you trust! Plus, we've found that girls learn how to model more quickly when they can watch someone else of the same level making the same mistakes they were.
Top
What will happen to the photographs?
Nothing.
Legally, no photographer (or model for that matter) can do anything with the pictures that have been taken unless the model has signed a "model release form" What's a model release form? Click here.
We won't ask you to sign a model release form at the testshoot so you're covered, legally.
On a practical level it's also very difficult to sell the pictures unless we have a copy of your ID (most magazines require proof of age from the photographer), so where as we will want to see your ID so that we're comfortable that you're over 18, we won't actually take a copy.
Again, you're covered.
The photographs are really only useful for you to see where you can improve your modelling, and for us to see what potential you have. They have no commercial value with a copy of your ID and that signed model release.
Top
Do I get a copy of the pictures?
If you're willing to let us use a handful of pictures on our examples page and throughout the nomohi site then we're happy to give you a copy (electronically) of those pictures that we use.
To cover ourselves we ask that you sign an agreement that limits us to using the pictures within nomohi, and you to using them for personal use.

Who keeps the negatives?
What negatives?
We shoot using digital cameras that have no "film".. the images are stored firstly on computer chip, and then on our computers.

What's "prints for time"?
Prints for time is a way of paying a model without actually giving her any money! Instead the photographer provides the models with "prints".
This is a great for photographers. However, it's not so great for the models. Not unless you really need a set of photographs for a portfolio or something, or the corner shop is willing to accept photographs of you instead of cash.
Here at nomohi we don't mess around with "prints for time". We have real work available, and we're happy to pay models to do that work. We like to invite models along for a test shoot before we use you for paid shoot, but after that you can expect to be paid on the day in cash. So if you fancy earning £250+ for a fun days work contact us today.
Top
What's a model release form?
A model release form is a legal document that most professional photographers will expect you to sign as part of a photoshoot.
The form legally makes the photographs the property of the photographer, and not you the model. This makes it possible for the photographer to sell the photos to a magazine, a website, or where ever.
Click here for an example of a model release form.

How do I build up a portfolio?
A portfolio is a folder of photographs of you looking your best and doing the kind of work you'd like to get paid for.
Modelling agencies will want to look at your "portfolio" before they're willing to talk to you. If you haven't got a portfolio some will charge you anything up to and beyond £500 to take photographs for you so you can build up that all-important portfolio.. and then there's still no guarantee that they'll talk to you!!
Many of the girls who come to us have at some point been seduced by glossy ads and competitions from companies who'll give you a complete "makeover" and a selection of soft-focus pictures of yourself caked in makeup and looking like a completely different person! This is not a portfolio. Do not waste your money on these people.
The easiest way to create a portfolio is to collect your favorite images from photo shoots you do. Why not start with by doing a test shoot with us? You get a chance to try out modelling, and get some pictures for your portfolio, without paying out a fortune to a London studio.
Click here to find out more about coming for a test shoot.

How can I make sure someone gets back to me / replies to my emails?
Isn't it frustrating when you e-mail someone but you never hear a peep out of them! I know, it drives us crazy, and I guess it must happen to a lot of the girls who contact me because quite a lot of emails I get end with the words "please get back to me."
Whilst there aren't any ways to guarantee a reply, there are things you can do to dramatically increase your chances.
My top five tips to get that photographer to call you back would be (in order of importance)..
- DON'T delete the previous part of the e-mail:
We are sure most photographers like us get many, many enquiries each week. It's reasonable to assume you're not the only person the photographer gets e-mail from.. And although we're sure you have a memorable smile, sometimes it's easy to lose track of an email conversation if the previous part of the conversation has gone missing. So.. when you reply to an email, make it easy on the other person and leave the previous part of the conversation in the reply. Oh, and by the way, write your reply at the TOP of the e-mail, not the bottom!
(if your computer automatically deletes the previous part of the conversation and you're using Outlook Express, try: tools, options, send, and tick the box "Include message in reply".)
- DO answer your phone:
It seems a little obvious doesn't it, but if you leave a contact telephone number then it's logical to assume there's a good chance the photographer might ring it. So, not answering the phone, or bumping the call to voice mail, or giving the phone to your sister/aunt/boyfriend/best mate isn't helping.
- DO give a surname:
Now this might not seem quite as obvious, but unless you have a very unusual christian name there's a good chance that you're not the only Lisa / Sue / Rachel / Jo / Emma / Andrea / Claire / Sharon / or Tracey that the photographer is dealing with. If you don't want to give your real surname, make one up! Oh, and e-mail addresses such as madforitallnightlong@hotmail.com does not say "reliable, professional model, ready for work".
- DO give as much detail as possible:
You might not have enjoyed English Language at school (or any subject where you had to write a lot) but we're sure you don't mind talking about yourself when given half the chance.. so, our advice to you is GO FOR IT. Sound enthusiastic, tell the photographer all about yourself, what modelling experience you've had (if any), or ideas of what you'd like to do if you haven't. If you have a favorite outfit you think you look absolutely stunning in, throw that in the e-mail too.. and here's a tip, use real words. And a spell check. Be fun, but be professional.
There's nothing less impressive than the e-mail that reads "hi. i want 2 b a modul. wat do i hav 2 do. bye"
- DO follow up your e-mail:
If you don't get a reply from your e-mail, follow it up. Obviously don't become a stalker or anything like that, but sometimes it's good to be keen. Best way is to try another form of communication, so if you've sent an e-mail and heard nothing, try phoning.

Why doesn't anyone want to photograph me?
If you're gorgeous (and you know it), yet you can't understand why your career in modelling has yet to get into second gear, take a good hard look at yourself and see whether any of the following are true:
- Did you send a photo? Was it out of focus, too small, a BMP file, or inside a word document?
- Did you only provide a mobile number?
- Do you only answer your phone if you recognise the number?
- Did you provide an email address? Are you sure it was correct?
- Do you actually check your e-mail (on a regular basis)?
- When you reply are you one of those people who keeps deleting the previous part of the e-mail conversation (very annoying)?
- Do you scroll all the way to the bottom of the e-mail and write your reply where no one will find it?
- Did you appear "keen"? Keen girls get the work.
- Are you only prepared to do topless, or worse still not even that? If so, consider a career in fashion - glamour modelling isn't for you. Those knickers have to come off.

Can you put me in touch with an agent or modelling agency (in my area)?
Surprising though it may seem in all the years I've been doing I've never approached an agency when trying to find a model. Every other model I've ever worked with has come to me via this website, or by recommendation.
So, my advice to you - forget about finding an agent. You don't need one. Least not yet.
If you want to contact professional photographers and film makers who are looking for models and have paid work I recommend visiting www.nomorehiding.com

I'm a male model, can you use me?
I'm afraid not - we only photograph women here at nomohi. The main reason for this is mainly because there's a greater demand for female photography, plain and simple, but we'd be lying if we didn't admit that we just prefer photographing women!
And no, being a transvestite isn't close enough! Sorry chaps.
(Yes, people really do ask us that!)
However, if you're a male model we may be able to help you get work by promoting you on our no more hiding.com sister site. Take a look at the site and follow the links to contact us if you're interested.
